Blogger Migration pt8 | October 9, 2005

Testing an idea for easier migration from BlogSpot to WordPress.com.

Putting all these thoughts together, I am about to attempt something a bit iffy. I am going to edit my BlogSpot template so it cuts out all the miscelaneous HTML crap, and leaves the pure post code. I will then download my posts to my computer, making it easier for me to migrate- a simple highlight, copy & paste from Notepad++ straight into .

No messing about with back and forwards buttons. No waiting for page loads. No triple message boxes on each back button press. No warnings about POST data. A step in the process will be simplified. Migration from BlogSpot to WordPress.com will no longer require access to BlogSpot.

I have an idea of how I’m going to make it work, but I’m not sure if it will.

  2. Blogger was playing up.

First it wouldn’t let me publish to FTP, then it wouldn’t let me publish to the friggin service it’s running on!!

I know technically I should be posting these updates into the entry and using <del> & <ins>, but I’m too annoyed.

Blogger is crap. It is no longer just inferior, as when a platform won’t let you publish onto itself it is just crap. It is like a car refusing to move when the engine is running and all four wheels are in contact with the road. It is like water refusing to flow down a mountain into a river and out into the ocean.

    It is just wrong.

    It is just crap.

Down With Blogger, Long Live WordPress!!

  3. Blogger is still having a hissy fit.

Looks like I’m going to have to go back to the Thunderbird archives and use the view source option again.
