Corporates being assholes again ?

I have a habit of occasionally writing about things I’m not fully aware of. Such as this one. Heard from Sonia Belle’s blog that a technologicaly knowledgeable model named Anina has been given an ultimatum:

either quit doing the technology stuff, or leave the agency. they say that fashion and technology do not go together.

. I think this sucks. And I know I don’t agree with Microsoft all the time, but Microsoft’s technical evangelist has the same opinion:

Anyway, I just saw that Anina, the geek model, has been told to stop blogging. That sucks. But leaves a bunch of future opportunities. She’s smart and that’ll take her a lot further than her looks.

I agree with Robert’s statement that it’ll leave her with a bunch of future opportunities, possibly with a more forward thinking agency. But I don’t think she she should be forced to leave her agency just because she might endager the image that models are stupid. might make poor decisions, some of them are made to appear more stupid than they really are. A lot of them, like Anina are highly intelligent, probably more so than a geek like me.

Anina told her agency that she was going to be doing all this geeky stuff before she signed up with them. Only now that she’s been doing it are they starting to whinge. I’m not a lawyer or anything, but isn’t that breaking some sort of contract law as the contract was signed under the agreement that would be doing all of that then they change their minds ?

New Technuendo.

This situation between Anina and her agency, who I’m not agreeing with so much that i’m not even going to bother giving them a rel="tag" or a rel="vote-against" link. What they have deserved is this: a technuendo dedicated to themselves. And apple. (must balance out mentioning microsoft somehow).

3) Something that is good for the industry that you can’t stop from happening no matter how much you don’t like it. Yes, you know who I mean.

This section is to comment on the innuendous interpretation of technological terminology, possibly created by the stereotypical geek that don’t get any (as opposed to the atypical geek who gets it when they want it).

British Gas are trying to disconnect me.

And they wonder why I’m changing suppliers.

First they send me a notice when I’m still in the process of moving that I owe them money. Which I don’t as it covers a period where I hadn’t taken over the tenancy. I told them I hadn’t taken control of the tenancy till after then so I wasn’t liable, they were fine with it. I only had to send them the tenancy agreement.

I forgot.

I’ve got a perfectly good reason for forgetting that I’ll not get into, but they sent a second notice. Obviously having more time to think sanely, I got them to check their records and it turned out I didn’t have to pay cos the last reading the previous tenant gave them matches the reading they took when the meter was taken out. So they said I didn’t have to pay.

They forgot.

I just received a letter sent 6 days ago that they going to disconnect my gas if I don’t pay.

3 Month Backlog of photos. Plussed I’m pissed off.

Grrr.

I hate trying to get things done on a windows box.

Backlog of photos.

I had a 3 month back log of photos I took within Second Life to upload to my flickr account. It’s taken me about 2-3 hours to convert, tag, title, and describe every photo.

The photos of me at Mac World and the polluting Prim rig are up.

Pissed off.

Can’t access my uni files for some reason, and the windows box took a hissy fit this morning, making it really difficult to do anything.

I was at Mac World today.

So I’m hanging around in the empty, low lag sim that is the poluting Oil Rig in ANWR. Along comes Brent Linden, and with him everyone at Mac World. Geek out moment.

Photographic proof, along with transcripts and the photos of the polluting oil rig itself that i took last year while chatting with Hamlet Linden coming over the weekend.

ps. forgive the spelling mistakes (if any), I’ve yet to install the spell check extension after moving and upgrading my Firefox instal.

Yet again, I’m getting taught bullshit.

Last time I checked, JS wasn’t a protocol, it was a language. Also, we’re/I’m still getting taught to do things incorrectly. wooooooo. Quotation marks are apparently optional on (x)html, attributes are camel-cased, and it’s okay to put typos in presentations.

Moving House: The Connection is coming….

I will have ADSL tomorrow.

I am writing pre-emptively to tell you all I will be on the net tomorrow in my own home. Right now, I am writing from the iBook lent to me by my friend using my mother’s house.

My net connection goes live tomorrow, and although I’m not due to recieve my modem till friday, my mother has the same modem (albeit from a different ISP but that doesn’t matter). So I’ll be nabbing it tomorrow, and although I won’t be on the net anywhere near as long as I would be normally, I will finally be able to access the net on a full 2 meg fat pipe that’s enough bandwidth for me and my gf to play SL- 4 at a push, as the pipe is 4 times the speed of my mothers pipe. So tomorrow i should be blogging about my fantastic pipe (or poor performance of expected bandwidth). If not I shall be busy kicking fellow SL resident Jess’s ass on a Mac vs PC B&W match.
